Stages of The Inter-School Quiz
Registration and warm-up
( Starting May 2024 )
Following the launch of the quiz, there will be a registration and warm-up period commencing on 1st May, 2024 and concluding on 30th September, 2024. During this period, schools will have the opportunity to register for the competition for a fee as shown in the table below:
Qualification
(1st October, 2024 - 14th February 2025)
All schools who complete registration will enter a 4-month qualification contest.
Points earned by Cubs during this period will count towards qualifying for the main contest. A daily top 50 school ranking will be published, so you can keep track of your progress and see how you stack up against the competition. The top schools will be determined by a combination of total reading points and school population, so every school, big or small, has a fair chance of winning.
Top schools will be determined by total reading points and school population as follows:
- Schools with a population of 200 and below: Total reading points/total population.
- Schools with a population of 200 to 400: Total reading points/70% of the school population
- Schools with a population of more than 400: Total reading points/50% of the school population

Verification (3rd to 20th March 2025)
The top 10 readers in the top 50 schools during the qualifying period, would be invited to participate in a Verification test. The Verification shall entail a screening of readers to confirm that they actually read the books they earned reading points for.
Perbi Cubs reserves the right to select a sample from the Top 10 Cubs or test all the Top 10 Cubs from a particular school. If a cub is not able to answer simple questions from a random sample of books they earned points for, their points would be removed from the school’s total. The final list of the top 32 schools to proceed to the actual contest will be determined after the screening. Three of the top ten cubs from the qualifying period will be chosen by their respective schools to represent them. Final contestants should be submitted by the school by Monday 23rd March 2025. It is also a time of celebration and fun to reward the Cubs for coming so far.
Actual contest (27th March - 6th June 2025)
For each contest, contestants will be given a set of books to read to prepare for the quiz. All questions will come from the assigned books for the particular contest.
Every contest will have 3 rounds. The specifics of each round will be explained to the contestants and participating schools before the start of the competition. The timelines for the various rounds are stated below;
Round of 32
(27th and 28th March 2025)
This Round will have a total of Eight contests. There will be Four thrilling contests with four competing schools held on each day. This will be streamed live on our social media platforms. Sixteen (16) schools will qualify from this round.
Round of 16
(16th May 2025)
Four thrilling contests each with four competing schools will be held on this day. This will be streamed live on our social media platforms.
Quarter Finals
(23rd May 2025)
Eight schools from the round of 16 would qualify for the quarter-finals. There would be four quarter-final contests with two schools each. Catch the excitement of the biggest reading tournament in Ghana on National TV.
Semi-Finals ( 30th May 2025)
Four schools from the quarter-finals would qualify for the semi-finals. There will be two semi-final contests with two schools each. Get ready for some thrilling action as the quarterfinals are all set to be broadcast on national television!
Finals and 3rd Place Contest ( 6th June 2025)
Get ready to witness the ultimate battle of champions! As the semi-final rounds come to a close, only two outstanding performers will earn their spots in the highly-anticipated final contest. Meanwhile, the other contestants will have the chance to prove their mettle in the intense 3rd place contest. It’s going to be a nail-biting experience, so brace yourself for an unforgettable ride!
Celebration Time!!!
After the thrilling finale, we will celebrate our contestants (winners) the same day. Our reading champions will receive fabulous prizes in the form of trips outside and within Ghana, attractive cash prizes, and even more exciting surprises. We will also celebrate Cubs who have performed brilliantly with our other reading challenges.
