We’re inviting all basic schools in Ghana to join the competition and sign up their Cubs (learners) ages 6-14. Get ready for an epic showdown as hundreds of private schools compete for the chance to participate in the ultimate quiz challenge! But wait, there’s more – this quiz isn’t just about winning, it’s about promoting the love for reading and creating a vibrant reading culture in schools across Ghana. We are thrilled to announce that we’re opening up participation to a wider range of schools.
Four public schools have been invited to join the competition, including the Madina, Dansoman, and La Wireless Clusters of Schools, as well as those under the Accra Metro Directorate. From registration to qualification, auditioning to the actual competition, this event is sure to be a blast! Get ready to show off your reading skills and compete against the best schools in Ghana! Stages of The Inter-School Quiz
Registration & warm-up (Extended to 14th February, 2024)
📚✨ Inter-School Reading Quiz Grand Launch – Ready, Set, Register! 🚀
The countdown begins from now till February 14th, 2024, as we kick off the Registration and Warm-Up phase of the Inter-School Reading Quiz! 🎉✏️ Schools, this is your golden ticket to a literary adventure.
During this period, schools will have the opportunity to register for the competition for a fee of Ghs 400. Once a school has registered, learners can sign up for a fee of Ghs 200 per learner.
Learners would have access to the Perbi Cubs Digital Library Platform where they can read books, take quizzes, and earn points. Learners will be taught how to navigate the platform and will get the opportunity to familiarise themselves with it.
Points earned during this stage do not count towards the qualification stage.
Qualification (15th February - 7th March, 2024)
There will be 16 schools participating this year:
12 private schools and 4 Public schools. Public schools will participate by invitation while private schools will be selected through the qualification contest.
- All schools who complete the registration will enter a 5-week qualification contest
- All points earned by Cubs during this period will count towards qualifying for the main contest.
- A daily top 50 school ranking will be published, so you can keep track of your progress and see how you stack up against the competition.
- The top schools will be determined by a combination of total reading points and school population, so every school, big or small, has a fair chance of winning.
Top schools will be determined by total reading points and school population as follows:
- Schools with a population of 200 and below : Total reading points/total population.
- Schools with a population of 200 to 400: Total reading points/70% of the school population
- Schools with a population of more than 400: Total reading points/50% of the school population

Audition (8th March - 16th March)
The audition will be to screen cubs to confirm that they actually read the books that they obtained points for. If a cub is not able to answer simple questions from a random sample of books they earned points for, their points would be removed from the school’s total. The final list of top 12 schools to proceed to the actual contest will be determined after the screening.
Three of the top ten cubs from the qualifying period will be chosen by their respective schools to represent them. Final contestants should be submitted by the school by Monday 18th March 2024. Actual contest (23rd March - 20th April)
Every contest will have 3 rounds. The specifics of each round will be explained to the contestants and participating schools before the start of the competition. The timelines for the various rounds are stated down below;
Round of 16 (23rd March)
4 thrilling contests each with 4 competing schools will be held on this day. This will be streamed live on our social media platforms.
Quarter Finals (6th April 2023)
8 schools from the round of 16 would qualify for the quarter-finals. There would be 4 quarter-final contests with 2 schools each. Catch the excitement of the biggest reading tournament in Ghana on National TV.
Semi-finals (13th April 2024)
4 schools from the quarter-finals would qualify for the semi-finals. There will be two semi-final contests with two schools each. Get ready for some thrilling action as the quarterfinals are all set to be broadcast on national television!
Finals and 3rd Place Contest (20th April, 2024)
Get ready to witness the ultimate battle of champions! As the semi-final rounds come to a close, only two outstanding performers will earn their spots in the highly-anticipated final contest. Meanwhile, the other contestants will have the chance to prove their mettle in the intense 3rd place contest. It’s going to be a nail-biting experience, so brace yourself for an unforgettable ride!
Celebration Time!!!
After the thrilling finale, we will have an explosion of festivities at the Celebration of Champions Programme scheduled for the same day. Our reading champions will receive fabulous prizes in the form of trips outside and within Ghana, attractive cash prizes, and even more exciting surprises. We will also celebrate Cubs who have performed brilliantly with our other reading challenges.

Kanéval kicked off its launch on 11th May 2023 at Alpha Beta Education Centres, home to one of Perbi Cubs’ several, amazing digital libraries.💻📖 In attendance were dignitaries from the Ministry of Education, UNESCO, AWBC, Reach for Change, and the Mastercard Foundation.✨ Vibrant learners from the Dansoman B Cluster of Schools were also present.❣️
